La I lived in Lausanne from September 1993 until I left for the US in 1996.
I love that city and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Switzerland. It offers a great mix of old and new: the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (or EPFL, my college) , the Cathedral and its "crieur", le Flon and its many modern clubs, le Cafe Romand (where you can eat a real "swiss cheese sandwhich", really called "une croûte au fromage" or great fondues), and the city's general progressive views.
